DIPHU, Jan 11: HPC said that they are still resolute in their movement and demand for implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India which they started on May 17, 1986.
The party accused the central government of discrimination and charged that the twin hills districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao have been sidelined when Centre crated new states – Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Uttaranchal in 2000 even when the provisions of Article 244 (A) has already been inserted in the Constitution. The party has severely condemned the BJP of the district, state and centre for contuing the discrimination against the people of the three hills districts by completely overlooking into the demand of the tribal people of the three districts.
Through the press statement, CPI(ML) HPC demanded the ruling party to immediately accord highest priority to the demand for implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India for creation of an Autonomous State for the hills districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
The HPC said that sidelining the autonomous state demand of people but creating small states for others is a direct violation of the Constitution of India.
The party warned the BJP not to repress the voice and demand of the people of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao if they want to avoid people overthrowing them out of power in the election.
