CGM NABARD visits Amri; takes stock of various projects

DONGKAMUKAM, Mar 22: Chief General Manager (CGM) of NABARD Assam RO Navin Dhingra, visited Amri block of West Karbi Anglong district on 21st March 2023 to take stock of the projects being funded by NABARD Assam RO and implemented by Amri Helping Hands Society (AHHS).
He visited the ongoing Skill Upgradation of Weavers sanctioned under LEDP in Umswai Model Village and interacted with the beneficiaries of the project and took an understanding of the training module. During the interaction, he advised AHHS to develop a banking plan, and credit linkages for the beneficiaries. He also advised AHHS for exploring ways for value addition and product diversification and also suggested including Design training and a punching machine for the beneficiaries in the current project and applying for sanction to NABARD. The project is sanctioned for 90 participants out of which 60 participants have completed the training in two batches of 30 each.
The CGM congratulated and interacted with the beneficiaries for MEDP on Ginger processing which is already completed. The beneficiaries informed CGM that the training was very informative for them and currently they are working on the credit proposal to be submitted to the Bank. AHHS also informed that the details of the SHG members have already been forwarded and submitted to NRLM for bank linkage.
CGM also interacted with the beneficiaries of the Model Millet Project (MMP). AHHS presented an update on the current status of the project and also informed the cultivation cycle being followed traditionally by the farmers. He also talked to the beneficiaries of the upcoming Eco-Tourism project to be implemented in Umpanai village. And motivated the beneficiaries of the project to take ownership of the development that will be undertaken.
“The ability to think for oneself is the most powerful weapon that one can have to achieve any desired goal and targets. One must give their 100% commitment in everything they do. The inherited resources that society possesses must be taken advantage of to create opportunities and a source of income. He added that to achieve any changes there must be strong development action plans which are to be made with the concerns of the local communities,” said the CGM.
Before ending his journey, the CGM instructed AHHS to develop the place under the proposed Eco-Tourism Project. AHHS was asked to prepare a comprehensive Development Action Plan on Eco-Tourism, Handloom & handicraft, and Drinking Water Supply for Amri Block and submit to NABARD.
