DIPHU, Jan 11: The two-day long 5th Havar Fest 2023 started today at Rongthelu. The event began early in the morning with a marathon race which inaugurated by KSA president Thomson Rongpi.
The official inauguration of the festival was done by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council EM as well as local MAC Surjya Rongphar. Several social workers and leaders from the Rongthelu-Rongplimplam area were also present.
The first day of the two-day long festival was filled by traditional sports competition, traditional dances competition and other exciting events.
An educational awareness session was also held in the evening which was chaired by JLF chairman Welsing Hanse. The appointed speakers for the session were KSA president Semson Teron and Anandaram Dhekial Phukan College assistant professor Longbir Ingti.
Later, modern song and dance competitions were also held. These were followed by a cultural nite.
It may be mentioned that the Havar Fest is held annually under the initiative of Havar Kangthur Aterank (HKA) and supported by several local bodies and socially active persons. The main objective of the event is to draw the attention of the administration towards problems and issues of the area.
