16 high schools in Karbi Anglong to be upgraded soon

DIPHU, Mar 25: In a notification issued by the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam on March 24, the director of DSE Mamata Hojai directed the Inspector of Schools (IS) across the state to make arrangements of additional classrooms and teachers for the up-gradation of High School to Higher Secondary School. This was keeping in view the Govt. of Assam’s decision to upgrade 1000 (one thousand) high schools into higher secondary.

The notification mentioned that the Govt. has already initiated the process of the up-gradation and 214 high schools have been upgraded from the academic session 2022-23. Now, Govt. is moving ahead with the upgradation of the remaining 786 high schools.

Among the 16 schools in Karbi Anglong are Barpathar High School (Santipur), Chokihola High School (Chokihola), Hidipi High School (Hidipi), Parakhowa High School, Umapanai High School, Karkok High School, Mohendijua High School, Jeng Rongpi English High School (Tarabasa), Langhin Manikpur Bodo Medium High School, Kisan Hindi High School (Borlangpher), Rajapathar Tiniali High School, Borlangpher High School, Langsoliet High School, Jaipon Adarsha High School, Samelangso High School and Beloguri High School.

DSE director Mamta Hojai also mentioned that at least two additional classrooms and five post graduate teachers will be required for teaching in the newly upgraded schools. 

Meanwhile, several concerned citizens of Karbi Anglong welcomed the decision of the Govt. They said that this move will felicitate easier access to education. They further demanded that several ME Schools (particularly those in the remote areas) should also be upgraded into high schools.
