Family seeks urgent compensation and assistance for treatment

TUMPRENG, Mar 26: In a latest incident of man-animal conflict, four persons were injured after being attacked by wild elephants at Kabung village under the Kheroni Forest Range inside West Karbi Anglong district on Saturday mid night.
The affected family members told TDE that the incident took place at around 1 am when wild jumbos attacked the house of one Jonasing Timung, resident of the village during which four of the family members were injured. During the melee, the wild animals also damaged the house, rice barn and several properties of the affected family.
The injured were first taken to Kheroni hospital and were later referred to Diphu Medical College & Hospital after the condition of the injured worsened. Following this, Jonasing Timung- the head of the family and the injured, called upon the forest department under the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and all well-wishers urgent assistance towards medical treatment and compensation for the loss of properties and damages caused by the wild elephants.
