HAVARKEHAT, Mar 29: The All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) appealed all people belonging to the ST(H) community not to join the Janajati Dharma Suraksha Samiti Manch. This was stated by the party in a press meeting called today by the party’s Howraghat LA committee.
The APHLC had alleged that the Janajati Dharma Suraksha Samiti Manch is trying to break the unity among the indigenous tribes by creating confusion on religious grounds.
“The Janajati Dharma Suraksha Samiti Manch is demanding that the ST(H) status should be taken away from those persons who change their religion from traditional form to any of the major religious groups. At this point of time when the secular constitution provides the right to religion, this organisation is working to divide the tribals and deny autonomous state and other provisions,” alleged APHLC.
The part leaders had urged all those ST(H) people who are working with the manch to leave at the earliest, for the sake of their community.
APHLC Organising Secretary Kursing Timung, APHLC Howraghat LA president Suren Kramsa, secretary Robising Ronghang, Howraghat LA Women Wing president Resika milikpi, Howraghat CC president Jonaki Tissopi, Diphu LA Organising Secretary Prodip Bey, Kison Kiling and others were also present in the press meeting.
