
DIPHU, Mar 23: The state-wide mission campaign suggested by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, and launched by Chief Minister on environment education is underway in Karbi Anglong. The programme is being implemented through ASTEC in association with local organisations during which 75 events would be held.
Local organisation JAKVE Asong told media that workshops covering reduction of single use plastic, saving energy, water, sustainable food systems, reduction of e-Waste, healthy lifestyle, upcyling waste, affects on environment, vermicomposting and organic farming, district level poster model competition, and conservation and documentation of local diversity would be conducted of students from multiple schools on different dates and venues.
According to Eco Club Coordinator Ronardson Bey, the campaign programme ‘A Week of LiFE’ commenced on Wednesday at Rengbonghom Higher Secondary School followed by Regional Agriculture Research Centre in Birla here today. The event on Friday, March 24, would be held at Mithiphang ME School, followed by Rongplimplam market on Saturday, KPH Taralangso on Sunday, Longnit Hemphu English School on Monday and the campaign event would be concluded on Tuesday, March 28 at Recreation Park.
