BOKAJAN, Apr 30: Jatiyabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) of Bokajan Regional Committee has called for strict examination and probe into about the safety of chalani (imported) fish after traces of formalin was found from the fish in the stated. In this regard a memorandum was also submitted to the Bokajan Sub-Divisional Officer Civil Anup Kumar Brahma by organisation along with a member of the organization central committee led by Jitu Phukan on Friday.
The organization told TDE that chalani (Catla) fish were being sold in the market over the state of Assam and Karbi Anglong district after injecting the fish with the chemical which is carcinogenic when consumed and acquired the ability to cause other health threatening disease.
The organisation through the memorandum called upon the authority for strict inspection of the fish supply from outside before dispatching out for retailing in the market.
