Auto driver from Dimapur killed in elephant attack at Nahorijan

DILLAI, Mar 27:  In a tragic incident, a 45 year old man was killed in an elephant attack at 6th Mile Nahorijan are falling under the Dillai Police Station late on Sunday evening.

The incident took place at around 8 pm when the victim who was riding an autorikshaw , with the registration number NL 07F0357, was unexpectedly attacked by a wild jumbo which suddenly appeared from nearby jungle. The victim, who was killed on the spot, was identified as Renthungo Odyuo, resident of Duncan Basti, Dimapur, from Nagaland.

Eye witness told TDE that the tragic incident was immediately reported to forest and police department. Upon receiving the information, the police and forest official rushed to spot but could not save the victim as he breathed his last before they reached the spot of the tragic incident.
