JAPARAJAN, Jul 29: An awareness programme on prevention of human trafficking and ending of witch- hunting was held at Langsomepi ICDS Project office here on Monday. The programme was organised under the Department of Women and Child Development.
The awarness programme was led by CDPO Juli Terangpi, and Supervisor, office staff, AWW, AWH
The awareness programme was attended by Advocate Lokhimai Engtipi, SGB Sarsing Teron, head master Mithun Majumdar, ANM Mina Tissopi, ASHA Homsira Terangpi, social worker Kamal Ronghang, adolescent girls, guardians of toddlers, Loringthepi police station officials and personnel.
During the event critical problems faced by present society ranging from murders, human trafficking, drugs addiction, mobile phone addiction was deliberated and called for more attention and resources for effective combat against it.
While speaking at the event, advocate Lokhimai Engti acquainted the gathering about the serious legal consequences of witch-hunting, murder, child marriage, drugs-peddling, and other criminal activities among others.
Asha, ANM, SGB, headmaster called upon the public to remain on constant alert and called for the need for support towards dealing with the problems effectively.
