DIPHU, May 16: The 3rd district executive meeting of the BJP EKADC ST-Morcha was held today at Langkung Habe Memorial Hall. The meeting was conducted as a review of the works carried out by the BJP workers in the grassroots level.
“We are the leaders and workers who must work for strengthening the party. We must actively contribute our efforts to the election-related tasks,” said ST Morcha State Secretary Longsing Tokbi.
ST Morcha State Pradesh president Shivnath Brahma said that to discuss various issues related to the indigenous tribes of Assam, a conference of the ST Morcha will be held at Dispur. He also asked the ST Morcha members to be more active on social media.
“The contribution of indigenous communities is noteworthy in Assam. The 1985 AASU accord was successful due to the contribution of the tribal communities and BJP party came to power in Assam because of the love given to the party by tribal community voters,” said Bokajan MLA Dr. Numol Momin.
MLA Dr. Momin expressed his disappointment over the absence of ST Morcha members from Bokajan MAC constituency. He said that if there is any misunderstanding among party members it should be resolved through discussion with the party leaders including MLA, CEM, MP and KAAC EMs.
“Dr. Tuliram Ronghang is not the CEM of BJP, but for Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong,” added Dr. Momin.
He further lambasted the opposition parties for misleading the public by terming BJP as anti-Christian. “There is no such bill that aims at canceling the ST status of Christian BJP workers. No one should fall trap of such rumours,” he concluded.
“Karbi Anglong has majority of its population from the ST community, as such the role of ST Morcha is very important here. The victory or defeat of the party in the upcoming election will depend on how the morcha works,” said MP Horensing Bey.
BJP workers from 17 mondal committees met in the meeting to discuss on how to strengthen the party.
