Chomangkan ritual concludes; KAAC EM Lunsing Teron pays homage to ancestors

DONGMUKAK, Mar 28: Langtuk Harne Chomangkan, the biggest of the three chomangkan rituals performed in honour of the deceased members of the family or ancestors was successfully held at Teke Rongpi village. The ritual was performed by the family of KAAC EM Lunsing Teron. The ritual which began on March 24 ended today.
As many as 67 Ser Athengpi or jambili athon met in the ritual which indicates the participation of youths from as many villages. The host family had expressed their gratitude to every one of them for their participation in making the chomangkan a grand and joyful one.

Among the 67 participating troupes, the best five were awarded. They were Ari or the same village where the ritual is held (1st prize), Chai Teron Denarong (2nd prize) Tharve abi (3rd prize), Sarso Bey Arong Tekelangjun (4th prize) and Longki Terang arong Sildharampur (5th prize).
Dignitaries and persons from high ranks including KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, MLAs, EMs, MACs and others also joined in the ritual. Traditional drummers (duhuidi), traditional dirge singers and priests (lunsepi and charhepi) were invited to perform ritualistic singing and drumming in honour of the ancestors of the host family.
According to the host family, 19 members of the family who have left for the heavenly abode (chom arong) were honoured and paid homage.
