BOKAJAN, Mar 25: Adding to the number of road mishaps, a container truck veered off the road at Lokhilangso under the Bokajan Police Station here on Friday evening.
According to police, the incident took place at around 7:30 pm when the truck with the registration number AS01NC4009 heading towards Dimapur veered off the road at a curve near Lokhilangso Catholic Church. Luckily, the driver and handyman of the truck managed to escape without any injuries but fled the scene.
Local police stated that the accident might have occurred due to over-speeding but no eyewitnesses were there when the incident took place. Local police however informed that the truck has been retrieved and is currently being kept under their custody.
Meanwhile, local and police also stated that there is an urgent need for signboards at the curve to prevent future accidents.
