VOTHATLANGSO, Jul 18: A dead body discovered in Nagaon has been identified as that of Namrata Ingtipi, a young woman from Dentaghat in Karbi Anglong. According to sources, Namrata had been missing since June 21.

Shockingly, the body was reportedly cremated nearly a week ago, before her identity could be officially confirmed. The identification was later established through belongings found with the remains, including her clothing and a finger ring believed to be hers.

Family members and locals expressed shock and grief over the incident, raising questions about the handling of the case. “We were still searching for her when we learned that the body had already been cremated. Only her clothes and ring helped us identify her,” a relative said.

Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the circumstances surrounding Namrata’s death or the premature cremation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and whether foul play was involved.

The community of Dentaghat and the broader Karbi Anglong region are calling for a thorough probe and justice for Namrata Ingtipi.
