DHAC CEM appeals for free and fair polls

HAFLONG, Dec 14: Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa appealed to all the people of Dima Hasao to maintain peace and tranquillity during the election to the 13th DHAC slated to be held on January 8th in respect to set an example of free and fair election so that Dima Hasao earned name and fame.
Addressing reporters at his official residence on Thursday, CEM Gorlosa said a list of party candidates will be announced by December 17th or 18th and the BJP party will give 28 candidatures in all the 28 constituencies.
“Multiple candidates have applied for candidature in most of the constituencies which indicates that BJP is the most popular party among all. However, party tickets will be awarded to the person who has served people from grassroot level, for which a team from the state has been camping in each constituency to access their efforts for the party and public,” CEM Gorlosa said.
He said that party tickets would be given for free, and purely based on their popularity.
He requested the party ticket seekers not to be unhappy if denied the ticket since the party has to choose a single candidate for each constituency.
“BJP is the most disciplined political party and therefore I believe that the BJP workers would never mind if their intended candidates are not awarded the party ticket,” he said.
He added that this time election plank of the BJP party primarily would be peace and development and he is hopeful that the people of Dima Hasao would extend their support to the BJP Party in the name of prevailing peace and development.
“If the people of Dima Hasao want peace and development, they would support the BJP party and the BJP-led government would make the district of Dima Hasao as one of the five best districts of Assam,” CEM assured.
