BOKAJAN, Apr 18: Borpathar police today seized drugs worth more than 3 crore rupees during a naka checking. Acting on secret information a special naka checking was set up by OC Barpathar with assistance from C20 CRPF camp Bokajan and PS staff under the supervision of SDPO Bokajan. The checking was set at Khakrajan under Barpathar PS.
At around 9 am a Tata Yodha vehicle bearing registration No. AS 15 AC 5442 coming from Dimapur was intercepted and on being thoroughly searched, a total of 54 soap cases of heroin weighing 687.26 grams were recovered from the vehicle. The packets were hidden inside the dashboard of the vehicle by making a secret chamber.
In this regard, the driver named Abdul Bashir Bhuyan (30) of Howly, Barpeta and his helper Safikul Islam (21) of Barpeta, were arrested.
