DOLAMARA, Sept 21: Local inhabitants of Tarapung area have expressed deep dismay and hurt as the current government continues to turn blind eye over the basic needs and facilities of the people.
In a latest instance, an ailing woman identified as Robika Engtipi, wife of Rolen Rongpi resident of Sai Taro, who has been paralysed for a long time, had to be carried on clothes tied to a bamboo pole by family members to Dolamara for medical treatment. “They have to walk for about 25 kilometres in order to reach Dolamara,” informed the family members carrying her.
The ailing woman who could not bend her knees, has been unable to walk for a longtime and her condition was aggravated since her cause of ailment was not detected but she couldn’t bend her knees.
The sick villagers of the Tarapung have no other alternative but to be manually carried for medical treatment and their circumstances has not changed even their woes and pains have been reported multiple times yet the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has not been able to do anything.
A local who expressed deep disappointment over the neglect of the government and the Autonomous Council stated that the failure to construct road by the present government have only demonstrated the real lack of concerns for their area.
“The present government promised us sand gravel within three months when they came to seek vote in the last election. We are suffering because they have not fulfilled their promises. Do they intend to make roads or they only want our votes?,” local residents added.
It may be mentioned that the foundation stone of road falling under the Kohora Road Division from Tara Aji to Poisa Engti village and Gudam Singnar village was laid by MP Horen Sing Bey in presence of Nilip MAC Pobitra Rongpi, PWD Board chairman Krist Rongphar, and Nilip Block BLCC chairman Winson Ronghang.
