DIPHU, Apr 02: The 2023 edition of the Greenfield Karbi Anglong League ended today with the final match played between Hills United FC and KASA FCC.
The scintillating match began with the first half dominated by the KASA FCC with their goal in the 44th minute by Panmei Alomi. Till half time, the KASA FCC looked confident and they even began playing the second half with strong possessions.
However, the HUFC players were repeatedly attacking and trying to break the KASA FCC defence wall. Finally, in the 88th minute, they succeeded in their strategy and netted their first goal of the match which came from the leg of Romarious Laban. This goal brought back life to the hopes of HUFC.
The score was then leveled at 1-1, and both teams were pressing hard to break the tie. In the final minute of the match, HUFC’s Romarious netted another time to secure victory for his team.
The winning team HUFC was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up team received Rs. 70,000. Romarious Laban was awarded the ‘Best Player’, while Panmei Alomi of KASA FCC was the ‘Highest Scorer’ of the tournament with 18 goals.
Lumbajong MAC Johny Timung attended the award ceremony as the chief guest in the presence of former MAC Ramsing Tokbi, Greenfield League secretary Sanahan Singha, chairman Deepak Asangbam and division chief organiser Vophong Rongphar, . It may be mentioned that the league was organised in memory of Lt. Gandhiram Timung.
