BOKAJAN, Sep 28: The Karbi Anglong Police posted in Khatkhati today recovered a huge quantity of drugs in front of SBI, Khatkhati under Khatkhati Police Station.
The secret network was busted when a check post was set up by the police on receiving information from their source regarding the smuggling of drugs by a certain group of people.
As per their suspicion, the police consisting of ASP Security assisted by OC Khatkhati PS staff and CRPF detained one i20 car bearing registration No. AS 02 J 2001 and on thorough search of the vehicle, 45 boxes of soap cases containing heroin weighing 575 grams were recovered from the secret chamber made in the dashboard of the vehicle.
In this connection, Nur Uddin (43), son of Sulman Ali of Nagaon and Azhar Uddin (24), son of Alal Uddin of Bhokotgao, Nagaon were arrested.
The recovery was made in the presence of Khatkhati OC Roman Bordoloi, SI Dipak Lahon, ASI Tikaram Barari and Babun Chandra Barik. According to the police, the market value of recovered items would be around Rs.6 Crores.
