Heroin worth Rs. 5 crore recovered in Khatkhati, one held

BOKAJAN, Mar 12: In a major success for the security agency, a total of 5 kilograms of heroin was recovered by the Karbi Anglong police during a search conducted inside a Bolero vehicle under the Khatkhati Police Station here on Sunday.

The narcotic substances was recovered at around 10 am at a naka set up in front of Khatkhat SBI bank by the police led by SDPO Bokajan John Das, APS, assisted by OC Khatkhati SI (UB) Ramen Bardoloi, SI (UB) Nitul Saikia, SI (UB) Dipjyoti Das, SI (P) Swadan Swargiyari, ASI Dipak Borah, ASI Jiten Gogoi IC Laharijan PP, C20 CRPF Camp Bokajan, APRG Camp Bokajan and PS staff.

According to the police, the search was carried out inside a white Bolero vehicle with the registration number AS09J4746 coming from Dimapur during which 390 soap cases containing the illegal substances was hidden. The soap cases were concealed inside a secret chamber in the upper body of the vehicle.

“The secret chamber was welded properly to hide the consignment. In this connection the driver of the vehicle namely Md. Fujel Ahmed (41yrs), s/o Lt. Mufasil Ali of Islam Nagar, Hojai has been arrested.”

“The consignment was loaded in Dimapur and supposed to be delivered at Nagaon bypass. The market value price is around Rs. 5 crores,” the police concluded.
