BOKAJAN, Mar 30: Bokajan police on Wednesday apprehended the main person who had been working as a linkman for smuggling illegal alcohol from Arunachal Pradesh. The arrested person Abdesh Choudhury (30), son of Makhan Chowdhury is a resident of Silonijan Nepali Bosti under Borpathar police station.
Abdesh was arrested as a result of the follow-up action on the seizure of 774 cartons of illegal alcohol being brought from Arunachal Pradesh and taken to Nagaland via Silonijan on March 25. Police began an investigation into the case and this led to the arrest of Abdesh.
According to the police, Abdesh Chodhury has been involved in smuggling drugs from Arunachal Pradesh to Nagaland. He is just one among the many persons in this nexus, there are many more.
Abdesh Chodhury has been booked under Case No.17/23 US 120 (B) 379, 411, IPC RW 53 (1) A 63 of the Assam Excise Act.
