KAAC pays tribute to its first CEM

DIPHU, Nov 28: Under the initiative of the Art & Culture department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), a tribute event to pay honour to Khorsing Terang, the first CEM of KAAC (then KADC) on its 69th death anniversary was organised today. The event was held at the Khorsing Terang Memorial Park, near the CEM’s bungalow.

Born in the year 1906 in Voteranglangso Langlongchor area near the Singhason hill, Khorsing Terang was the son of Kaku Tissopi and Longkam Terang. In 1917, he began his schooling at MV Model School, Golaghat. Due to certain reasons, he gave up going to school very early and read till the fourth standard.

On the death of his father, Khorsing took up the charge of Borjan Mouzader. He also joined the movement for a separate district led by Semsonsing Ingti. Later, he became the first CEM of the district council. He passed away in the year 1955. 

As part of today’s programme, an essay writing competition for school students was conducted. Earlier, local leaders including MLAs, KAAC EMs and officers paid floral tribute to the first CEM in his statue.
