DIPHU, Aug 07: In a joint press meeting held today at Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) office in Rongtheang, the allied organisations of Karbi Anglong-Dima Hasao Autonomous State Demand Committee’ (KADHASDCOM) said that the organisation and all its allies are fully committed to work for the full implementation of the provision under the Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution. The press meeting attended by KSA, Dimasa Students’ Union, Karbi Adorbar, Karbi Riso Adorbar, KARSA, Tiwa Dorbar and KUYA, highlighted some crucial facts that the organisations strictly adhere to while demanding for Autonomous State under the provision of Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution.
They said, “The KADHASDCOM and its allies are purely non-political social organizations which are fully committed to full implementation of Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution. The KADHASDCOM and its allies have been spearheading the movement since 1986 in a mass peaceful and democratic process without break.”
They also stated that “KADHASDCOM and its allies does not function at the behest of any political party as well as for the interest of any political party, but only for the interest of the Hills Tribes of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Hills District and Dima Hasao Autonomous Hills District in particular and the people of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Hills District and Dima Hasao Autonomous Hills District of Assam in general. The demand movement or programmes led by the KADHASDCOM and its allies are not election oriented or political, because we are purely non-political social organizations.”
“The organizations recently submitted a memorandum to Mr. Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Government of India, on 31. July, 2023 at Parliament Office, New Delhi, for full implementation of Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution,” wrote the organisations in press release issued later.
The organisations condemned APHLC chief JI. Kathar, IAS (Rtd.) over his allegations against the organizations that New Delhi visit and meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shahji, is aimed at forthcoming Parliamentary election in 2024, are totally biased, baseless and politically motivated.”
“So, we strongly condemned such allegations which are nothing but a political gimmick before the forthcoming parliamentary election just to undermine the popular demand of the hills tribes and the general people of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Hills District and Dima Hasao Autonomous Hills district of Assam, India,” read the press release.
KADHASDCOM further sought cooperation from national political parties and regional Political parties including various non-political organizations and both the hills tribal people and the general people of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao to consolidate the demand for an autonomous state.
