
DIPHU, Mar 20: The Karbi Anglong Dima Hasao Autonomous State Demand Committee (KADHASDCOM) is organising a sit-in-demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in order to pressurise the Central Government of India to introduce a “Govt. Bill” and passing thereof for creation of an autonomous state comprising the three hills districts of Assam as per Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution.
As informed in a press meeting today, the demonstration will be held on March 23, 2023 and more than 400 delegates will take part in it. Led by KADHASDCOM leaders including president Ajit Timung and general secretary Sing Timung, the demonstration will be joined by the KSA, DSU, KRA, KARSA, KUYA, Karbi Adorbar, J.N.H. (an Apex Body of Dimasa Community), Tiwa Dorbar, KARAA (Karbi Anglong Rong Asar Amei), BJP and others political parties.
The organisation also informed that, “a ‘Private Member’s Bill’ for the same purpose was introduced in Lok Sabha by the then Member of Parliament of 3, Autonomous District (S.T.) Parliamentary Constituency Shri Biren Sing Engti on 5. August, 2016 and the same is being re-introduced in the same house (i.e. Lok Sabha) by the sitting BJP’s M.P. of the same Constituency, Shri Horen Sing Bey which shall pave way for achieving the Autonomous Statehood early. So, we offered thanks to Shri Horen Sing Bey for taking initiative for immediate full implementation of Article-244(A) of Indian Constitution.”
KADHASDCOM and its allied organisations have offered heartiest thanks and gratitude to KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang and his colleagues “for taking full interest to immediate implementation of our long standing and Constitutional demand for creation of Autonomous State under Article-244(A) of Indian Constitution.”
“At the same time, the KADHASDCOM urges upon all the Political leaders of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao to sacrifice for the creation of an Autonomous State as provided under Article-244(A) of the Indian Constitution like the leaders of Khasi and Jaintia and Garo Hills at the time of the creation of Meghalaya Autonomous State in 1969 and also appeal all the Militant organizations and other social organizations not to accept ‘More Power to Autonomous Council’ means less than Autonomous State,” concluded the press statement released by the organisation.
