DIPHU, Jul 26: The Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC (KAMSFC) is set to make its Durand Cup debut against Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP FT) on July 27 at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar, starting at 4:00 PM today. They are the first club from the district to have been invited to play in the event.
KAMSFC, established in 2008, has been built on local talent and grassroots initiatives, and this marks a significant milestone for the team. They’ve previously won several accolades, including the Assam State Premier League titles in 2015 and 2023-24.
The Durand Cup is one of Asia’s oldest and most revered football tournaments, featuring 24 teams from the Indian Super League, I-League, and the Armed Forces. Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC is part of Group D, alongside Punjab FC, ITBP FT, and Bodoland FC, with their matches scheduled to be played in Kokrajhar.
In their group stage matches, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC will face ITBP FT on July 27, Bodoland FC on July 31, and the ISL team Punjab FC on August 3. All the matches will start at 4:00 PM at SAI Stadium, Kokrajhar.
