DIPHU, Mar 27: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) today organised a free medical camp cum awareness programme against early child marriage at Upper Hapjan ME School. The programme was conducted under the initiative of the KSA Upper Dillaji Branch Committee.
Inaugurated by KSA president Thomson Rongpi, former KSA leader as well as SMC president Bharat Ronghang, DDC president William Tisso and Rakesh Terang and several other members of the CEC and branch committee were present at the programme.
Among the health officers who came for the camp and rendered voluntary service were Dr. R.S. Hanse (i/c Manja BPHC), Dr. B.S. Tokbi (Gynae), Dr. S.K. Das (ENT specialist), Dr. P. J. Engtipi (Medicine) and others. They gave free check-ups, provided free medicines and also addressed the villagers on the high health risks related to early marriage.
Hundreds of women, men and children from the nearby villages came to the camp.
