DIPHU, Sep 18: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Karbi Anglong celebrated the Poshan Maah on 17th September 2023 at KVK, Training Hall. The programme was chaired by Dr. S. Maibangsa, Head, KVK, Karbi Anglong. In the programme, Dr N. Baruah, Scientist, Zonal Research Station, Diphu was also present.
Bobby Rai, Dietician, Diphu Medical College attended the programme as a resource person. Anganwadi workers and helpers from various Circles of Diphu urban area, ASHA workers, farm women, and practising farmers were the participants in this programme.
The event began with the address of Head, KVK, Karbi Anglong in which he emphasized the role and need for education in today’s life. He has mentioned some of the promising technologies in the field of agriculture through which we can march forward in the better empowerment of the country. Moreover, he also highlighted some key points about the nutritional facts of various Millets and Mushrooms.
B. Rai, a Dietician at Diphu Medical College, explained the importance of nutrition mainly in the case of women. She put forward the facts regarding how every woman category like adolescent girls, infants, lactating mothers etc. should maintain their day-to-day diet. The list of food items rich in vitamins and minerals were also been mentioned by her.
With reference to nutrition, a small Recipe competition has also been organised where various anganwadi workers and farm women took part and were awarded prizes and certificates. Lastly, all the participants were given a Dragonfruit sapling each under the plantation programme of Poshan Maah. A total of 53 participants and 14 officials attended the programme. Finally, the programme ended with a formal vote of thanks.
