DIPHU, Dec 05: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karbi Anglong celebrated the “WORLD SOIL DAY” to raise awareness about soil conservation and sustainable soil management. The programme was celebrated with the theme “Soil and Water, a source of life.”
The event was started with the welcome address by Dr. Subal Maibangsa, Head, KVK Karbi Anglong. In his speech, Dr. Maibangsa highlighted the significance of celebrating World Soil Day emphasizing the role of soil and water for human, animal and plant health.
Dr. K.D. Singha, Chief Scientist, Zonal Research Station, Diphu also graced the event with his presence and delivered speech highlighting the responsibility of farmers to safeguard and ensure availability and quality of soil and water for future generations. Manjurima Gogoi, Scientist (Soil Science), ZRS, Diphu delivered the lead lecture relating to the theme of the event.
Two farmers – Sonasing Engti of 7th mile, Diphu and Anima Terangpi of Centre Bazaar, Phuloni were felicitated for their contribution towards soil and water management practices in farming activities. A total of 60 participants were present including the Scientists of ZRS, Diphu, Input dealers of West and East Karbi Anglong, and farmers and other KVK Scientific staff.
