DILLAI, Jul 25: Labour organisations comprising of Karbi Anglong Labour Union (KALU, Borjan Labour Union (BLU) and International Labour Organization (ILO) distributed farming tools to workers of the area at Longbi Hanse village falling under the Borjan constituency.
The distribution event was led by BLU president Horen Terang. The programme was attended, as chief guest, by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Food and Civil Supply Board chairman Philip Teron, and was accompanied by KALU founder Bidyasing Rongpi, KALU president Chandra Rongpi president Chandra Rongpi rganising chunbang Raising Milik, BG and several others.
Speaking at the distribution event, the KAAC F&CS Board Chairman lauded the effort of the labour organisations and asserted the importance of workers and labourers linking them to the progress of the country. He also stated that without them construction of roads, buildings, setting up of companies and factories would not be possible without their skills, workforce and contributions.
The KAAC Board Chairman further emphasized on the equal importance of work and stated that any laborious work must be honoured, held high with dignity.
Later, KALU president Chandra Rongpi and BLU president Horen Terang expressed gratitude to Borjan MAC and EM Surjya Rongphar, Board Chairman Philip Teron and Labour Board Chairman Khorsing Timung for providing their additional support towards availing adequate tools for distribution.
