TUMPRENG, Aug 13: Landowners who are yet to receive the land compensation in the Assam Mala Scheme of West Karbi Anglong have appealed the authority to for early release of the money. Keeping this problem of the landowners in view, social worker Krishna Timung approached SK Mondol of the area. Accordingly, the team of Mondols visited the land whose owners are yet to receive the compensation.
It may be mentioned that most of the landowners have already received the compensation money, however, some are yet to get it.
“I do not understand why I am not getting the compensation till now. My land is adjacent to my neighbour’s. He has got the money, I am not,” said a deprived landowner.
The deprived landowners have demanded that their land should not be touched for the construction of roads if the compensation is not disbursed. They are suspicious of the involvement of officials in the delay.
