Will KAAC act against EM Mukut Mahanta?

BOKAJAN, Apr 25: In a blatant violation of law, a PMAY-G house is being constructed in a plot falling under the forest reserve land inside the Deopani MAC constituency. The house is allegedly being constructed at the behest of EM Mukut Mahanta.
The matter has come to light a week after the forest department demolished all illegal houses and structure constructed inside the forest reserve land along the Diphu-Lumding road. The PMAY-G house is stated to be constructed under the direction of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council EM Mukut Mahanta.
Following this, concerned citizens have expressed their outrage over the incident and have demanded the KAAC of action against the EM. Citizens charged that that such acts of flouting of law by lawmakers set a dangerous precedent and may not only lead to irreversible damage to the environment but greater harm to the functioning of Sixth Schedule under the current government.
Following this, all eyes are on the KAAC to clarify whether the EM is above the law and whether he can disregard the relevant forest laws with impunity.
