Locals express concerns over ILP in Nagaland

BOKAJAN, Apr 21: Huge number of people of the of Karbi Anglong have expressed concern over the implementation Inner Line Permit (ILP) for those enterning Nagaland. The concerns were raised after Dimpur DC Sachin Jaiswal made post in social media.
According to the post, district or state will have to issued ILP for an inward travel in Nagaland with varied charge for categories including domestic and foreign tourists, traders and businessmen, labourers and students. For domestic tourist an amount of Rs.50 will be charge for fifteen days, Rs.100 for a month for foreign tourist, Rs.100 for three months for traders, labourers and students, Rs. 500 for a year and an amount of Rs.500 will be charged for businessman, priest and teacher for a year stay.
When implemented, every non indigenous person entering area of Dimapur should possess ILP unless a person is passing through the Dimapur to other states as transit, compulsory for non indigenous person who entered or settled in Dimapur after 21 November 1979 within 30 days from the issue of this notification, failing which penal action as per the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 (BEFR Act) will be initiated.
A joint Task Force of District Administration and police will be responsible to conduct regular ILP checking and maintain vigil for the strike implementation of the Inner Line Permit.
Regular visitors of the state expressed their concern with TDE stating that such restriction must be exempted particularly for neighboring district and those requring medical service, education, railway and airline facility. Further, many stated that it will have severe affect on those who earn daily wages in the heart town of the Nagaland state.
