KOILAMATI, Aug 17: Locals of Phangcherop Rengma village located 17 kilometres away from Koilamati under the Nilip MAC Constituency have called upon the concerned authorities for early completion of the ICDS building.
According to locals, the construction of ICDS office was sanctioned under the MSDP scheme which was sanctioned for the year 2018-19. Contractor Albert Rengma told TDE that the construction had to be stopped as fund has not been released.
The contractor, who is also the son of Phangcherop village SGB was allotted the contract work by the MLA. The construction work had to be stopped midway as funds were not released for the project. “The wall and roof has been completed but floor, doors, windows and ceiling needs to be completed. Due to this, ICDS helpers and workers are not able to carry out their duty and the village remained deprived from all government benefits and facilities which is impacting many families,” the contractor said.
Due to the halting of the construction work, the incomplete ICDS office is surrounded by massive overgrowth of thick bushes and creepers which may lead to damage of whatever have been constructed, locals informed.
Following this, local residents of the area have called upon the Bokajan MLA and Assam Deputy Speaker Dr. Numol Momin and Nilip MAC Pobitra Rongpi for their early intervention on the matter for early completion for the greater interest of the people of the area.
