CHOKIHOLA, May 10: Chokihola Thana circle felicitated the newly joined Officer incharge of Chokihola Police Station Ritupal Senchowa on Wednesday.
The felicitation ceremony was chaired by Chokihola Thana circle President hhElison Timung. Senchowa was warmly welcomed by Nilip Press Club, SGB, GB, VDP and members of the Thana circle who felicitated him with a Karbi and Assamese souvenir Poho and Gamusa respectively.
SGB Welson Kro, GB Dorsing Kro, VDP members and several dignitaries of the area attended the felicitation programme.
OC Ritupal Senchowa during an event said that he is determined to work for the welfare of the citizens of Nilip and urged the citizens to work together cooperatively in the days to come.
Chokihola Thana circle president Elison Timung in his speech said that the responsibility of maintaining peace and tranquility within the village lies with SGB, GB, VDP as well as the concerned citizens.
“As Karbi Anglong is protected under the 6th schedule, we have the provision to resolve several matters and issues through the customary laws up to a certain extent among ourselves initially. Direct enforcement of Law and orders could be done only in certain matters,” he added.
Furthermore, during the event, an awareness on Drugs, disadvantages of early child marriage and Education were discussed.
