DIPHU, May 13: A one-day special camp was conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Diphu Govt Boys’HS School today. It was conducted at Upper Hapjan Hanse Village located along the Birla-Rongplimplam DDS road.
The camp participated by 45 volunteers from the school was led by teacher coordinator Iraj Kumar Saikia and assisted by subject teachers Welsing Hanse, Pinky Barman and Runa Bongrungpi.
As a part of the camp, the volunteers were taken on a village tour to understand the lifestyle and the issues faced by the locals. They also interacted with Rupsing Hanse, the headman and SGB of the area and Bharat Ronghang, the secretary of the village.
The volunteers had planted tree saplings around the village playground and also made a volleyball court for the youths to play. A cleanliness drive was also conducted to make the villagers aware of the importance of cleanliness.
