Open to talks with any parties on Art 244 (A) and other issues: Khorsing Teron

DIPHU, Nov 23: The press conference was convened at the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong to clarify their objectives relating to their recent meeting with APCC president in Diphu. The press conference was led by JACAS chairman Khorsing Teron and JCCPA Convenor Robindra Rongpi.
Addressing the media, JACAS chairman Khorsing Teron expressed stated that there was no issue to hide with regard to the recent meeting with the APCC president Bhupen Bora in Diphu. He clarified that he came as president of state Congress and not as an ALLIANCE representative.
Teron said that they met the APCC president over Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India, border, Sixth Schedule and others including corruption. Teron also attacked the ruling BJP government and stated that it has compromised with territorial integrity of the hills districts by putting Block-I, Block-II, Psiar and Khanduli as disputed areas. The third primary issue revolves around the Sixth Schedule alleging that its powers are being diluted of under the present BJP government to which several organisations of the hills district has severely opposed and condemned the ruling party.
Responding to allegation of regional party, JACAS chairman Khorsing Teron accused APHLC president JI Kathar of indulging in provocation with attempt to create misunderstanding among people of the hills districts by terming organisations with personal benefits and interest. He iterated that they met APCC with the only intent to know the stand of the Congress on Article 244 (A), border and Sixth Schedule and asserted it was a preliminary meeting. The nine organisations clarified that they would be ready to talk with any parties on the long standing issues of the Karbis.
He said that since there is no INDIA alliance in Assam but has is staying under the United Opposition Forum comprising of INC, Trinamool Congress, Jaitya Parishad and Raijor Dal among others. “It would be nonsensical if they claim that they will not talk with Congress will only talk with INDIA alliance. Would they be able to avoid Congress if they are part of INDIA alliance in Assam,” Teron said.
He urged upon the people of the twin hills districts of Karbi Anglong to be united on the long pending political demand and refrain from acting as agent provocateur which is deterrent to all.
It was ridiculous of them to oppose INDIA alliance which was formed with the aim of defeating BJP at the national level. He concluded his address asserting that they have no aim of joining the Congress asserting that they are non-political bodies.
Meanwhile, JCCPA Convener Robindra Rongpi also asserted that their aims are transparent and primary issue is Article 244 (A) of the Constitution greater interest of Karbi Anglong. He said that the false allegations made by JI Kathar have demonstrated his true stature. He described him as an anarchist, his efforts would be short-lived and he is bereft of diplomacy which is key to placing demands in politics. He said that he is yet to prove himself. He urged him to maintain his decency and positive mind.
