DIPHU, May 06: The Ove Kimi Club of Phonglokpet, Volongkom Aji today conducted its golden jubilee function. The event was attended as the chief guest by local MAC and KAAC EM Madhuram Lekthe. He was accompanied by KAAC board chairmen Longsing Tokbi and Prakash Sangma.
In the morning today, the celebration began with the hoisting of the club’s flag by club president Bidya Hanse and assisted by secretary Dayaram Tokbi. This was followed by homage paying to the departed members of the club including founder president Lt. Diliram Terang and secretary Lt. Paniram Tokbi.
An awareness session on education and prevention of drug abuse was also conducted. Diphu Govt. College professor and a youth from the same village Rajit Hanse spoke on the occasion as the invited speaker. In his speech, he appealed to the younger generation to stay away from any form of drugs.
Later, in the public meeting attended by the chief guest EM Madhuram Lekthe, a souvenir magazine titled ‘Phonglokpet’ was released. The club members submitted a memorandum to the EM and appealed for various developmental works for the club.
Earlier on Friday, several games and sports events were also conducted. Women, children and youths from all families in the village participated in the programme to make it a big success.
