Post Harvest Training & Demonstration held

DIPHU, May 24: A training and demonstration on post harvest machinery was conducted at AAU- Zonal Research Station, Diphu under APART (Assam Agribusiness & Rural Transformation Project) on May 23 and 24, 2023.
Dr. K.D Singha (Chief Scientist), Mrs. Anjela Deka (Project Associate, APART), Mr. Mirlong Bey (Research Technician, IRRI), Mr. Samiran Das (Research Technician, APART) & a total of 60 farmers from different blocks of Karbianglong district were present in the training programme.
The programme was initiated by Mrs. Anjela Deka, Project Associate, APART with a brief overview as well as the basic objectives of APART and further outlay regarding the importance of the postharvest management. Further Dr. K.D Singha stressed upon scientific rice cultivation methods and to use improved technologies for higher production with the use of STRVs(Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties). Mr. Mirlong Bey (Research Technician, IRRI) described the use of various machineries related to rice cultivation while laying emphasis on the various post harvest machineries and also discussed about the advantages of machineries. The participants were also given demonstration on usage of Super bag, moisture meter, Reaper & open drum thresher. The farmers showed their keen interest to use the machines and desired to have more trainings in their locality.
