DIPHU, May 23: A training and demonstration on post harvest machinery was conducted at AAU- Zonal Research Station, Diphu under APART on May 23. Dr. K.D Singha, Chief Scientist, Anjela Deka Project Associate, APART, Mirlong Bey, Research Technician, IRRI, Samiran Das, Research Technician, APART and a total of 30 farmers from different blocks of Karbi Anglong district were present in the training programme.
The programme was initiated by Anjela Deka with a brief overview as well as the basic objectives of APART and further outlay regarding the importance of the postharvest management. Further Dr. K.D Singha stressed upon scientific rice cultivation methods and to use improved technologies for higher production with the use of STRVs(Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties). Mirlong Bey described the use of various machineries related to rice cultivation while laying emphasis on the various post harvest machineries and also discussed about the advantages of machineries. The participants were also given demonstrations on usage of Super bag, moisture meter, Reaper & open drum thresher.
The organisers also informed that farmers showed their keen interest to use the machines and desired to have more trainings in their locality.
