BOKAJAN, May 10: Pronoti Borah, the mastermind behind the supply of illegal liquor from Arunachal Pradesh to other states has been summoned by the Bokajan Judicial Court. She was allegedly accused of carrying out the illegal business for a long time.
Police said that in recent times they had been able to seize large quantities of illegal liquor being transported to Guwahati and Manipur on trucks. These seizures were completed during naka checking at Borpathar, Khatkhati and Dillai. On interrogation with the drivers and other persons apprehended, the name of Pronoti Borah was revealed as the mastermind. Accordingly, she was arrested from Guwahati on May 8.
A case was filed at Dillai Police with Case No. 38/2023, and another at Borpathar PS with Case No.17/2023 and 19/2023. As follow-up action on the cases registered, Pronoti Borah was today brought at Bokajan Judicial Court.
It is to be mentioned that Pronoti Borah is the wife of renowned Assamese film actor Jatin Borah. Another two persons, Rajesh Das and Ranjit Kumar Gupta were also arrested in this connection.
