DIPHU, Dec 10: The Pulse Polio Immunization for children between 0-5 years began in Karbi Anglong today. Those parents who have children of this age group were seen going to the polio booth which opened between 9 am to 4 pm.
In a press briefing convened on Saturday evening, the officials of the Additional CM&HO informed that in this immunization programme in the district will cover the block blocks – Manja, Diphu Urban, Bokajan, Howraghat and Chowkihola. The targeted number of children in these five blocks is 92493. Booth centres have been set up in all villages under these blocks.
District Immunization Officer, DFWB Dr. Rupsing Hanse, briefed in the press meeting that newly born children and those below 5 years have bigger chances of suffering from Polio. As such, the immunization is a must.
Monsun Singh, DME, Siddhartha Paul, CA (UIP) and Biren Engti, Dy. DE&MO were also present in the press meeting.
