PHELANGPI, Mar25: Rejecting news aired by a local portal news channel, Kheroni Southern Range Forest Ranger Harsing Kramsa clarified the news report as completely baseless and misleading. This was stated during a press conference convened at his quarter here in Phelangpi, West Karbi Anglong today.
The forest ranger during a briefing clarified that the vehicle sent by the office was to retrieve the timber planks which they have spotted inside their jurisdiction. “The timber planks that we spotted was laying there for about a month and left behind by unidentified smugglers. We believe that the timber smugglers have not been able to go and carry them away due to bad weather which have worsened with the passage of time,” Kramsa said.
“Despite that I send my staff to seize the timber planks and brought it back to our office while the local web portal news channel created a completely different news which was contrary to the actual event. The news channel reported that the vehicle was sent to smuggle out timber when, on the contrary, the vehicle was sent to recover and bring back timber planks. So, the news channel’s report is completely false and has misled the public,” Kramsa clarified.
The forest officer called upon the news channel to verify any event as false report could create public distrust and confidence on hard working government employees who are delivering their services with all their hearts.
