DIPHU, Apr 19: Under the joint initiative of Karbi Anglong Tai Ahom Chatra Honstha and Bokajan Tholuwa Juva Mancha, the 13th Adoroni Bihu event is being held at Bokajan on April 19 and 20, 2023. The event began this morning with the hoisting of flag by the reception committee president Porag Gogoi. This was followed by an homage-paying session led by Dr. Dimbeswar Bhorali.
During the day several competitions like the exhibition of hand-woven gamusas, home-made eatable items, smashing of eggs and others were conducted. The competitions were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Minakshi Dowara. In the evening, Bihu troupes from different places came to showcase their dances.
As per tradition, the Adoroni Bihu signifies welcoming the new year. Throughout April month, the youths will go door-to-door dancing Bihu. They also go for picnics and make fun and merriment.
