BOKAJAN, Mar 28: Locals of Khatkhati Goutom Bosti and its adjoining areas under Bokajan Sub-division and Khatkhati police station have expressed dismay over the sale of double dead pork meat in the market.
Locals also mentioned that the sale of such meat continues unabated even after the KAAC authority has banned the sale of such meat in the market.
Locals also informed that the pigs are usually imported from farms in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal etc. Moreover, the double dear meat is unhygienic for consumption.
As per the locals, the meat is being brought to Karbi Anglong district from Dimapur, Nagaland state every morning and the suppliers have to cross numbers of check-points including Lahorijan, Khatkhati, Dillai, Hidipi and Bokajan which implies the inability of KAAC administration and Food & Civil Supply to exercise its power for permitting their entry.
“We have no idea which of the vendors are selling double dead meat and therefore, we are at risk of purchasing either of them,” the locals stated.
They also urged upon the concerned authority to take strong action against such activity for the betterment of the society.
