VOTHATLANGSO, Aug 08: A press meet was held today by residents of seven villages under the Amtereng area, opposing the proposed shifting of the Assistant Executive Engineer PHE office from Amtereng Subdivision to Bhoksong.
The press meet, held at Amtereng, was organised by conscious local citizens and village representatives concerned about the sudden administrative move. They expressed strong opposition to the relocation, stating that the office has already been established and named under Amtereng Subdivision, and shifting it would undermine the interests of the local population.
Prominent among those who addressed the media were Amtereng village headman Mongolsing Kro, Hanse village headman Sarsing Hanse, and noted social activists Dhoniram Teron and Borsing Rongphar. They, along with other villagers, voiced a unified appeal to the CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, urging him not to proceed with the proposed relocation.
Speaking on behalf of the seven villages, they emphasized the inconvenience such a move would cause to the local population, who depend on the Amtereng office for essential Public Health Engineering services.
We respectfully request CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang to reconsider the decision, keeping in mind the needs of the people and the significance of the Amtereng Subdivision, said one of the speakers.
The press meet concluded with a collective appeal to the authorities to prioritize the welfare and administrative convenience of the seven villages and retain the PHE office at its current location in Amtereng.
