Special polio vaccination campaign to start in Golaghat district from 10 December

GOLAGHAT, Dec 07: The special polio vaccination campaign will start on December 10, 2023, in Golaghat district. Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (Family Planning) Dr. Jasmine Begum addressed a press conference at the office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Golaghat district today. She explained the campaign in detail and said that the Central Government has directed to implementation of Sub-National Immunization Day on December 10 in 19 districts of Assam including Golaghat because of the re-identification of polio patients in some parts of the world.
The Sub-National Immunization Day campaign will run from December 10 to 12, 2023. A total of 128,840 children aged zero to 5 years will be vaccinated at 877 polio booths in Golaghat district. Health workers will conduct home visits on December 11 and 12, 2023 to administer the polio vaccine to children who for some unavoidable reasons have difficulty in receiving the polio vaccine on Sundays.
The Government has launched this programme to ensure that not a single child is excluded from vaccination to establish India as a completely polio-free country.
The Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (Family Planning) urged every department involved to cooperate in making the campaign a success. He urged parents to come to the polio booths on Sunday to get their children vaccinated.
Dr. Kabita Uzir, District Immunization Officer, Golaghat District, Anushka Bora, DPM, National Health Mission, Golaghat, Purbali Hazarika, DME, Golaghat, K.S. Rengma, Computer Assistant Souravjyoti Barbarua and other health officers were present.
