BOKAJAN, Apr 20: The central committee of the Students and Youth Council (SYC) held a body reshuffle meeting today. The meeting was conducted at Terang Guest House, Diphu at around 11 AM in the morning.

The new body of the SYC CEC will be led by the new president Harlongbi Kathar and general secretary Jirjar Kathar. Lovinson Terang will serve as vice president, while JIrlyn Timungpi will hold the post of assistant general secretary. Among other office bearers appointed today were Suresh Tokbi (Finance Secretary), Elwin Hanse (Organising Secretary), Benjamin Singnar (Legal Cell Secretary), Sarbinong Phangcho (Sports Secretary), Aldrin Tokbi (Office Secretary), Adison Lekthe (Publicity Secretary) and Harbamon Tisso (Cultural Secretary).

It may be mentioned that SYC was formed in 2015 under the initiative of HSDC, a political party that was born by the coming together of CPI(ML), HSDP, and UPF, as the party’s student wing. However, of late the HSDC had lost its existence and now the organisation had decided to function as an independent body.

The organisation leaders stated today that they will continue to support any party who leads the struggle for the implementation of Article 244(A). They are also committed to working for the development of education and the society.
