Teachers Day celebrated in Dongka

DONGKAMUKAM, Sep 05: Along with the rest of the country ‘Teachers Day’ was celebrated in West Karbi Anglong today to mark the birthday of former President of Independent India Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. To mark the celebration the ‘Homage’ programme was held paying rich floral tributes before the photo of Radhakrishnan in schools at the same time on this day student community specially led honour to their teachers.

Here in West Karbi Anglong, almost all the schools both private, missionary-run schools, PVN schools etc. celebrated with different styles making extra Pandals with their extra collection while others in their own school halls.

From early morning hundreds of students of different were seen busy thronging to their respective schools in traditional dress, while some in colourful dresses attended and participated in the function. In some schools besides offering sweets to the teachers ‘Lunch’ was also arranged.

However, the teachers of some schools while expressing their concern said that they get a meagre amount from the Council that is also every six months (twice in a year) and found a great difficulty in maintaining their family in the present inflation day. They are already aged and have no time to write TET exam and some of them have only a couple of years before retirement or are too aged to take up other professions. Despite that, they celebrated the day with joy.
