CHOKIHOLA, Mar 08: The Tokolangso Forest Sub Beat office under the Silonijan Eastern Range has been hit by shortage of manpower due to which its functioning has been severely affected. This was stated by Beat Officer Sarthe Tisso here today.
Narrating the problems plaguing their office, the forest beat officer told TDE that earlier their office had enough staff but had all left leaving him alone to carry out his duty. “Since then, I am the Beat Officer, and the chowkidar as there is also no guard,” Tisso continued.
Further, the forest personnel told TDE that he alone is posted at the office even as Tokolangso falls under the Wild Life Sanctuary and also the Elephant Corridor due to which the wild jumbos frequent the area. In addition to this, the Tokolangso Forest Sub Beat officer said that their office is located in a very strategic point as it is the border area sharing border with Golaghat district.
Following this, the Tokolangso Forest Sub Beat officer has called upon the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang and forest EM for immediate appointment and posting of more forest staff at Tokolangso Forest Sub Beat in the greater interest and security of the forest, the wild animals and of the local people of the area.
