BOKAJAN, Aug 08: In a latest incident, two persons were arrested after police recovered 566 grams of heroin from their possession at Janakpukhri falling under the Khatkhati police station here today.
According to officials, the narcotic substance was recovered during a raid carried out on receiving secret information by the Assam police led by Khakhati Police station OC and personnel and assisted by C20 CRPF. The heroin was hidden inside 45 soap boxes from a gypsy with the registration plate NL07 CC 0629. In this connection, two people from Manipur’s Senapati district residents identified as S Siivicho John Thro (30), s/o Sani Thro, Khullen village, Tadubi and Rapu Elea (24), s/o Stephen, Phaibung Khonou village were taken into custody for further interrogation.
Earlier on Monday, Bokajan police station OC Manjit Terang led police team also recovered 87.64 grams of heroin from an autorickshaw with the registration number AS09A 8642 during a search conducted at around 7:40 pm. In this connection, two persons identified as Sunil Shah (Bihar) and Dhiraj Shah (Chungajan, Golaghat district) were also arrested. The seized heroin was stated to have been smuggled from Dimapur and was hidden inside a carry bag.
